Aircraft Maintenance Engineer

Mustang Helicopters is seeking Engineers who work well in a team environment with an emphasis on safety, customer service and professionalism. Mustang offers company stability with long term contracts in place and availability of winter work. Operations Manager

Job Description:

The Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining operational control over Mustang flight personnel and aircraft to ensure safety and efficiency. This role involves close collaboration with the Director of Maintenance to monitor aircraft status and anticipate downtime. The position is a full time role based in Blackfalds, Alberta.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contract Management: Working closely with the Business Development Manager utilizing the fleet and overseeing all contract execution, ensuring all terms and obligation are met.
  • Personnel Management: Lead and supervise the operations team, including pilots and support personnel. Responsibilities include recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and professional development coaching. Ensure that crew members are kept informed of any changes to the regulation or standards.
  • Scheduling: Develop and manage flight schedules to ensure efficient use of resources and meet customer demands as well as ensuring that the crew scheduling complies with flight and duty time regulations.
  • Daily Operations: Plan and oversee daily business operations to ensure smooth progress with the crews and clients.
  • Operational Manuals: Managing and updating the company manuals according to Transport Canada regulations and specific company standards.
  • Flight Operations and Pilot Training: Direct and execute flight operations and pilot training programs with the Chief Pilot, ensuring compliance with Transport Canada and Canadian Air Regulations standards (CARS)
  • Safety: Ensure that aeronautical information affecting the safety of flight is received and actioned in a timely manner. Confirm the timely dissemination of safety information, both internal and external, in conjunction with the flight safety program.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualifications: The Operations Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our helicopter fleet, composed of over 40 aircraft. This position requires a dynamic individual with exceptional organizational, management, and communication skills to ensure efficient and effective operations. The Operations Manager will manage contract execution, personnel, scheduling, and operational compliance (aerial Work 702/ Air Taxi 703), ensuring all activities align with the company’s strategic goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience in a position that exercised operational control in the aviation industry sector. Previous experience as an Operations Manager or Chief Pilot is required.
  • Decision-Making: Must be able to make critical decisions under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Attention to detail is a critical skill.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills to interpret information.
  • Assertiveness and ability to coordinate activities with others, obtain your cooperation and support.
  • Knowledge in Canadian Air Regulations.
  • Mustang representant with Transport Canada.
  • Knowledge of navigating customer support.
  • Excellent organization and coordination skills to follow through on specific file matters, ensure timeliness, comprehensiveness and accuracy of report contents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with aviation professionals and to obtain or clarify information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Clean record and compliance with the Aeronautic Act.
